Hand Layup

Hand lay-up is the simplest process for manufacturing composite products and is normally used on small production runs or more complicated smaller components.

Tooling is a low investment as only one side has a finished surface which is usually gel coated, the rougher rear glass finish is normally not seen.

Complex mouldings can be created by using multi-part tooling and it is a great way to prototype parts that can be later converted to closed mould.

Spray Layup

Spray layup is normally used when a high volume of components are required on a regular basis and is what we use on many of our production runs.

Large complex mouldings can also be created by using multi-part tooling.
This process is ideal for bus & coach, commercial vehicle, motorhome components etc.

Vacuum Press Infusion & RTM

With VPI the vacuum consolidation method produces high-quality mouldings with exclusion of air bubbles and improvement to the inner surface of the moulding.
The controlled conditions also improve consistency and allow superior products to be made.

With RTM the closed mould consists of both an A and B face tool that are sealed using vacuum pressure. Resin is drawn into the cavity under vacuum.

The resin infusion may be assisted by a resin injection pump, which will accelerate the infusion process. Once the part has cured the B face tool is removed and the part is demoulded from the A face tool.

Solid Surface Casting

Solid surface is a cast polymer material product, produced by combining polymer resins with marble and limestone.

Once the mould has been prepared for casting, the material is mixed and degassed in one of our automated casting machines. It is then injected into the cavity of the mould.

Cast solid surface components are 100% throughout and the materials are fused together in the manufacturing process, this has many advantages/benefits over conventional materials.

// FAQ

Call us or send an email
if you have any questions.

Lead time will vary due to the size of the part or complexity.

We would normally say 8-12 weeks, which will allow for completion of master patterns, mould tool manufacture and 1st prototype sign off.

Not necessarily, its possible that we can take an existing part and reverse engineer, cutting out the need to produce a master.

We can help by using stage payments, we can invoice once the pattern is made, then again once the mould tool is complete, so it’s spread out over 2-3 month depending on the time scale.

We can initially set up a Teams meeting to introduce each other and discuss the project. Alternatively we can visit your premises to discuss or you can visit our factory.
