Composite Floor
Case Study:
Lamplas Supporting ABI Holiday Homes in High-Quality GRP Solutions.
Introduction:
ABI Holiday Homes needed a flooring solution that not only improved visual appeal but also met the practical demands of their diverse customer base, including wheelchair users. The goal was to create a seamless, functional floor with built-in accessibility features, ensuring a better user experience.
Key Contributions:
Designing the One-Piece Floor
After multiple collaborative meetings with ABI, Lamplas proposed a one-piece floor design that would ensure durability and accessibility. The floor featured integrated ramp access for wheelchairs, offering a smooth transition for users and enhancing overall safety and convenience.
Custom Features for Functionality
The floor design included raised plinths for essential fixtures such as the basin, WC, and radiator. These plinths ensured a stable and elevated foundation for key elements, contributing to a more ergonomic and practical interior layout.
Efficient Drainage with Runoffs
To enhance functionality, the floor was moulded with runoffs leading to waste outlets strategically placed in each corner. This ensured efficient drainage, making the floor easy to maintain and preventing water accumulation, which is critical for the long-term durability of the space.
Ease of Installation with Timber Rails
Lamplas incorporated timber rails beneath the floor to ensure it remained flat, simplifying the installation process. This feature allowed for seamless integration into ABI’s manufacturing process, reducing installation time and ensuring a consistent fit across all units.
Built-In Tile Pattern for Aesthetics
To elevate the visual appeal of the floor, Lamplas integrated a tile pattern directly into the mould tool at the pattern stage. This eliminated the need for additional surface treatments, providing a high-quality, polished finish that combined practicality with style.
Outcome:
The final product delivered by Lamplas exceeded expectations, providing ABI Holiday Homes with a one-piece flooring solution that was both visually appealing and highly functional. The integrated ramp access, efficient drainage, and built-in tile pattern offered a modern, user-friendly solution that enhanced the overall quality and accessibility of ABI’s caravans.
