One Piece Baths
Case Study:
Lamplas Streamlining Bath Installation for Swift Group.
Introduction:
Lamplas, a leader in innovative composite manufacturing, collaborated with the Swift Group, one of the UK’s premier manufacturers of holiday homes and lodges, to improve the installation process of baths in their products.
Swift sought a solution to reduce labor time and enhance the durability of their bathroom installations.
Lamplas provided a game-changing one-piece bath moulding, addressing the challenges of traditional bath assembly.
Project Overview:
The Swift Group faced a time-consuming and labour-intensive process when installing baths in their holiday homes and lodges. The traditional method required fitting the bath, bonding three separate walls, and sealing everything with silicone. Additionally, the continuous movement of the units along the production line increased the complexity of the task. Swift turned to Lamplas to find a solution that would streamline installation, enhance durability, and eliminate the maintenance issues associated with silicone joints.
Key Contributions:
Development of a One-Piece Bath Moulding
Lamplas designed and built a bespoke bath tool that combined the bath and three surrounding walls into a single moulded unit. This innovative design eliminated the need for bonding separate wall panels, ensuring a seamless and integrated structure.
Eliminating the Need for Silicone
The one-piece moulding eliminated joints that traditionally required silicone sealant. Without joints to seal, the risk of silicone degradation, cracking, or mould growth was completely removed. This not only improved the aesthetics of the bathroom but also significantly reduced long-term maintenance needs.
Increased Installation Efficiency
The new bath moulding dramatically simplified the installation process. By removing the need to bond multiple components and apply silicone, the Swift Group was able to significantly reduce labour time on the production line. The one-piece bath could be easily installed in a single step, making the assembly process more efficient and consistent.
Enhanced Durability and Hygiene
The seamless construction of the bath moulding provided superior durability, with no joints to weaken over time. Additionally, the absence of silicone ensured a more hygienic bathroom environment, free from potential mould and mildew growth, enhancing the end-user experience.
Outcome:
Lamplas’ one-piece bath moulding solution delivered significant benefits to the Swift Group. It streamlined the production process, reduced installation time and labour costs, and enhanced the overall quality and durability of the bathrooms in their holiday homes and lodges. The innovative approach not only improved manufacturing efficiency but also resulted in a superior product for Swift’s customers.
